Virtual Exhibition: Riccardo Valsecchi – ID WITHOUT COLORS

As part of the virtual exhibition, the images in the categories on the pages of the law firm Sven Adam change irregularly.

ID Without Colors – photographs by Riccardo Valsecchi

This virtual exhibition took place in connection with a decision by the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate (OVG Rheinland-Pfalz) on May 8, 2012. In this decision, the OVG granted leave to appeal a judgment by the Administrative Court of Koblenz (VG Koblenz) dated February 28, 2012. The VG Koblenz had ruled that suspicionless ethnic profiling based solely on skin color by officers of the Federal Police was permitted and covered by the Federal Police Act. The judgment of the VG Koblenz was overturned by a widely noted decision of the OVG Rheinland-Pfalz, which found that racial profiling violated the plaintiff's fundamental right under Article 3 of the Basic Law (GG).

Photographer Riccardo Valsecchi wants to use the exhibition to send a message against racism and exclusion.

This virtual exhibition is being published in connection with the admissibility of the appeal against the judgment of the Koblenz Administrative Court of February 28, 2012, which sought to justify suspicionless identity checks in Germany solely on the basis of skin color. Further information [here].
