Sculptures by Simon Stiegeler
The aim of the "Virtual Exhibition" project on www.anwaltskanzlei-adam.de is also to offer a platform, especially for young artists, to present their works.
Therefore, in June 2007, sculptures by Simon Stiegeler, the subject for the header images on www.anwaltskanzlei-adam.de.
Simon Stiegeler currently lives and works as a freelance sculptor and draftsman in Grafhausen.
He often uses a chainsaw, even for small-scale works. With rasps, carving knives, and sandpaper, he achieves various surfaces and textures on his objects.
Color is often used subtly. His more recent works are characterized by an interplay between natural wood, varnish, and acrylic paint.
The writer and organizer of the “Fürth Art Encounters” Gerd Scherm on Simon Stiegler:
“Simon Stiegeler describes himself as a ‘sculptor and draftsman,’ and if you look closely at his works, his ‘shells,’ you'll see that. You can tell that a drawing of form and space precedes the sculptor's work. What's special about Simon Stiegeler's work is that he doesn't create sculptures and then place them in a space, but rather creates spaces that become sculptures and thus represent a piece of architecture. They are poetic dwellings, beyond the human world. Simon Stiegeler creates spaces for thoughts and feelings that, on the one hand, find a protected and preserved wooden home, but on the other hand, stand quite confidently as fortresses of the inner self.” Simon Stiegeler can be reached via email at simon.stiegeler@web.de
